(European Cluster Excellence Program with ClusterXchange scheme connecting ecosystems and cities) COS-CLUSTER-2020-3-03, COSME
The “Big Science“ organizations – CERN, ELI, ESA and others – are large-scale international research with large funding, a large number of staff and impressive sizes of infrastructure and laboratories. Not only is this an output of future technology, but it is also a potential order generator, spending huge sums of money on outsourcing or components. The idea of the BIGINN project is based on the hypothesis that there is a huge untapped potential for innovation and international cooperation based on technological needs and purchases from “Big Science” organizations. BIGINN partners see the “Big Science” market as a platform for business development and technical innovation that is particularly beneficial for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The project aims: to mobilize clusters to exploit the potential for innovation and international cooperation in Higher Education Infrastructures, improve the global competitiveness of SMEs through internationalization, strengthen and improve cluster management skills.
Project activities: in addition to the typical ClusterXchange program exchanges between companies and organizations, the BIGINN project will develop and coordinate 360ºXchange events, encompassing a comprehensive experience of the Higher Education environment in the region. These will include group visits to “Big Science” infrastructure, seminars, conferences, visits to local stakeholders, networking and other ecosystem-friendly joint activities.
ClusterXchange and 360ºXchange will be open to all participants in the European Union’s COSME program. Stakeholders must be registered with the European Cluster Collaboration Platform under one of the following profiles:
Partners: project coordinator BigScience.dk is an institution that brings together the Danish business community and the “Big Science” infrastructure, INEUSTAR – the Spanish Science Industry Association, Laser & Engineering Technologies Cluster (LITEK™), active in the field of optoelectronics and laser technologies.
LITEK™ is responsible for communication, cluster accreditation and labeling, stakeholder involvement in this project.
Duration of the project: 02/01/2022 – 31/01/2024
