Lasers. Science and technology: 2021
The traditional national conference “Lasers. Science and Technology ”which has brought together both old and young start-ups of the Lithuanian laser sector took place on the last Friday of summer 2021. According to the executive director of the Lithuanian Laser Association dr. Petras Balkevičius, currently there are over 50 companies operating in the laser sector generating over 160 Mln. Eur turnover. It is gratifying that the COVID-19 pandemic, which has stopped the world, has not slowed down the growth of the sector. “Both the increased turnover of the sector and the number of companies testify that the need for high technologies, innovations and digitization is greater than ever,”- says Kristina Ananičienė, coordinator of the Laser and Engineering Technologies Cluster (LITEK ™).
The event, as always, discussed the most relevant news of the Lithuanian laser sector, presented the latest scientific achievements, development opportunities and expectations. The perspectives and challenges of the Lithuanian laser industry are also discussed. Conference “Lasers. Science and Technology ”, the participants got acquainted with the vision of the future Public Institution“ Innovation Agency ”, the process of developing mission-based science and innovation programs and the forthcoming innovation financing period.
During the event, LITEK ™ coordinator K. Ananičienė presented the opportunities to use the services and opportunities provided by the European Digital Innovation Hub “PhotonHUB Europe”. “PhotonHUB Europe” is a one-stop-shop platform whose main goal is to help companies in the health, agri-food, transport, space, traditional industries and other sectors to digitize the development and deployment of advanced photonics-based technologies.
