Photonics – the accelerator for innovation in the industry

The international specialized exhibition of technologies, innovations and engineering solutions BALTTECHNIKA 2022 – the most important event of the year of the engineering industry in Lithuania, whose main goal is to contribute to the sustainable growth of the engineering industry and technology sector in Lithuania, was held on October 19-21st.

During the event, representatives of the country’s engineering and technology industry companies, including LITEK™ cluster members UAB EKSPLA and the largest scientific research institution in Lithuania the Center for Physical Sciences and Technology (FTMC), presented their products and technologies to the general public. According to FTMC technology transfer coordinator K. Naudžius, the event has changed significantly over the past five years – it has become more attractive to foreign companies that participate in world-class exhibitions such as Hanover, Germany.

At the exhibition, the participants of the event had the opportunity to become more introdused to the laser technologies developed in Lithuania and their application solutions available to the industry already today – laser surface micromachining, cutting, marking, or 3D printing – these are just a few of them.

All light technologies (photonics), including lasers, optical sensors, cameras and other solutions, are one of the main catalysts involved in both innovation and the acceleration of industrial digitization. Laser technologies are rapidly enabling innovations in medicine, space, war, automotive industry, agriculture, biotechnology – especially where standard manufacturing solutions have already reached their technological capabilities. Photonics-based solutions lead to flexible, low-defect, production, high performance and productivity, extreme precision while maintaining the economy of energy and other resources.
