JSC “Elas” – one of the winners of the “Good Design 2018” competition

The winners of the 2018 contest “GOOD DESIGN” were announced at the Lithuanian National Martynas Mažvydas Library in Vilnius on the 7th of May, during the “Design Week”. The third place in the category “product and industrial design” was won by the company “Elas”, the member of Laser & Engineering technologies cluster (LITEK™), which, in cooperation with the Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts and designer Aistė Bankauskaitė, presented the laser microprocessing machine MASTER 1 to the market. According developers that machine , functional and an attractive laser microprocessor′s corps is designed on purpose to attract customers attention. The design of the device was developed taking into account the company’s corporate style of color and the specifics of the company’s activities. The idea of the body shape for the designer originated from the shape that was obtained from an imaginary laser beams intersections. National contest “GOOD DESIGN” – a special event for finding and mention the exclusive design (Lithuanian products and Lithuanian designers works) in the country. It is organized annually from 2012 and each year gets a lot of attention from the participants. Designers, that are working in Lithuania, and companies operating here are applying for participation in the competition.Within two years of the completion of the competition (created or placed on the market) works are evaluated by an independent international design professional commission. This year, according to the organizers of the event, 230 applicants were evaluated for their participation in this event.

The success story of JSC “Elas” is an example of effective cooperation between industry and art creators, because modern engineering technologies must be not only functional, but also beautiful.
