

FTMC scientists’ evaluation: state awards for merits to Lithuania
On July 6, 2025, on the State (coronation of King Mindaugas of Lithuania) and National Anthem Day, a solemn ceremony was held in the White Hall of the Presidential Palace of Lithuania, during which several Lithuanian scientists received particularly honorable recognition – they were awarded state awards for outstanding work and glorifying the name of Lithuania. The Officer’s Crosses of the Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas was awarded to Gediminas Račiukaitis, a scientist at the member of the LITEK™ cluster State Research Institute Center for Physical Sciences and Technology (FTMC), a doctor of physics and a pioneer in the development and implementation of laser technologies in Lithuania. the Knight’s Cross of the Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas was awarded to dr. Gediminas Niaura – Professor of Physics, Academician, Habilitation Doctor, for world-class scientific research on the structure and functionality of molecules, aimed at the creation and improvement of the latest technologies, and dr. Vidmantas Remeikis – Professor of Physics, Habilitation Doctor, for high-level international scientific research in the fields of applied nuclear and reactor physics, radiation ecology and environmental science.
These highest-level awards are an appreciation of persistent and long-term work for one’s country and society, contributing to strengthening the image of Lithuania in Europe and the world. The State Research Institute Center for Physical Sciences and Technology (FTMC) is a large team of scientists conducting unique research in the fields of laser technologies, optoelectronics, nuclear physics, organic chemistry, nanotechnologies, electrochemical materials science, functional materials and electronics science.
