LITEK review of exhibition “Laser World of Photonics China 2013”

LITEK attended exhibition “Laser World of Photonics China 2013” that took place in Shanghai New International Expo Centre in Shanghai, China on from 19th to 21st of March. This exhibition is the biggest laser tradeshow in China. According to the organizers, this exhibition attracted a total of 539 exhibitors from 18 countries on a record exhibition area of 28,750 square meters. The 3-day trade show was attended by 36,042 trade visitors and buyers, increasing by 5% in comparison with 2012.The innovations and applications presented at the trade show herald a bright future for the Chinese market.

There were four Lithuanian laser technology companies: Altechna Workshop of Photonics and three members of Laser and Engineering Technology Cluster: EKSPLA, ELAS and EKSMA OPTICS. The members of Laser and Engineering Technology Cluster were exhibiting at one booth of their representative „BEIJING OPLAN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT CO., LTD“. More than 100 pcs of Laser and Engineering Technology Cluster brochures and USB keys were distributed by EKSPLA and EKSMA OPTICS to potential customers and business partners. More than 40 leads with potential customer contacts requesting for a catalogue were brought to Lithuania.

During the tradeshow potential suppliers and buyers of laser components were visited. There is a huge potential for a chinese market for nonlinear crystals that operate in Infrared Range, pico and femtosecond lasers, optical parametric amplifiers or laser systems that generates high energy (>1J) pulses.

Before the exhibition some manufacturers in Fuzhou were visited. These visited companies specializes in manufacturing of laser opticl components and provides components for some of LITEK companies. During the visit the specifications of laser components, supplying problems and business development opportunities were discused. Chinese manufacturers has introduced key persons in the company, showed their manufacturing and quality control facilities and laboratories.
