LITEK™ representatives at the training “Effective cluster” organized by Agency for Science, Innovation and Technology (MITA) and Lithuanian Innovation Center (LIC)

Representatives of Laser and Engineering Technologies Cluster (LITEK™) participated in the “Effective cluster” training organized for Lithuanian clusters by Agency for Science, Innovation and Technology (MITA) together with Lithuanian Innovation Center (LIC) on March 29th. The event was dedicated to the representatives of matured clusters of the project “InoLink”. A large group of participants had the opportunity get to know one of the most relevant themes for cluster optimization and efficiency. The training was provided by dr. Gerd Meier zu Köcker leading expert of Baden-Württemberg Cluster Agency and the Institute of Innovation and Technology, who has an extensive experience in cluster and innovation projects in Europe, Africa and Asia implementation.

The theoretical knowledge was based on practical examples during the training and the participants were encouraged to be active in performing lecturer’s tasks. There was provided useful information during this event about the cluster′s structure and management and the identification of its members in order to implement successfully cluster’s strategic objectives. It was introduced to “Cluster Mapping” as a tool to understand / set up a cluster value chain, also there were discussed ways of sustainable financing (how to effectively co-ordinate public funding , membership fees and revenues from services and international projects), the importance of international cooperation of clusters. The relevant topic („Cluster labeling“) of clusters performance and maturity assessment was discussed during the training, because, now and in the future, in cooperation with foreign partners, an important business performance quality proof becomes the possession of label of excellence (“European Cluster Excellence“).“European Cluster Excellence” is like a business card showing the quality of clusters activities in the international community, so comply with the standards of bronze / silver / gold label should be the goal and aspiration of each cluster.
